General

Q: How does a portable MovinCool unit work?
A: Roll it into position, plug it in, and turn it on. NOTE: If you are in an enclosed room, you will need to exhaust the warm air from the top of the unit out of the room. The drop ceiling space in a typical office will usually satisfy this requirement.
Q: How many square feet does it cool?
A: As a rule of thumb, 400 square feet per 12,000 Btu/h's (12,000 Btu/h's equals one ton of air conditioning). However, you must account for other factors which will affect the total heat load.

Q: How much temperature drop do you get?
A: An average of 15° to 25° F, from ambient temperature, depending on model and level of humidity, e.g. low humidity = high temperature drop, high humidity = low temperature drop.
Q: What is the water tank for? Do they come with a condensation pump?
A: The water tank is for condensation removal. MovinCool collects condensation in the tank at the base of each unit. The condensate tank is included with all units except Classic 40, Classic 60, Office Pro 60 & Office Pro 63. The tank is available as an optional accessory for Classic 40, Office Pro 60 and Office Pro 63.

You can eliminate the need to empty the tank by installing our condensation pump. The condensation pump is included with Office Pro 60 and Office Pro 63. For all other units except Classic 40, Classic 60 and PC7, pumps are sold separately.
Q: Do they come with a thermostat?
A: Yes. All models come with a thermostat.

Q: What is difference between Office Pro and Classic/Classic Plus units?
A: Office Pro units are designed to cool low temperature areas like server rooms, data rooms and offices. It can operate down to 65 degrees. Classic/Classic Plus unit are designed to cool high temperature and high humidity areas like warehouses and manufacturing facilities. The Classic/Classic Plus units remove more moisture from the air than the Office Pro series.
Q: What is the life expectancy of these units?
A: The average life expectancy of a MovinCool unit used under normal operating conditions is 10 years.
Q: Is there a check valve on the condensate pumps?
A: Yes, it prevents water from flowing back into the pump.
Q: How high can I pump the condensate water?
A: For 115V portable units, 20-feet. For 230V portable units,17-feet. The head pressure will go down with the voltage draw by the unit.

Installation & Maintenance

Q: What type of power do I need?
A: PC7, Classic 10, Office Pro 12, Classic Plus 14, Office Pro 18, CM12, (115 volt-standard household current)

Office Pro 24, Office Pro 36, Office Pro 60, Classic 18, Classic Plus 26, CM25 (208/230 volt single phase)

Classic 40 (220 volt three phase)

Classic 60, Office Pro 63 (460 volt three phase)
Q: Can you always duct the exhaust air into the drop ceiling?
A: No. You may need to remove MovinCool's exhaust air in some other manner. Contact us or your local dealer for more information.
Q: What is the farthest I can run the exhaust/cooling ducts? Can I block one duct on CP units?
A: Varies, depends on models (See Specifications: Click the following link to view the specifications - http://www.movincool.com/downloads/overview_specs.pdf).

Length specified is total length in and out of unit. For condenser plenum, 10’ inlet and 10’ outlet = 20 total feet. Each 90 deg bend = approx 8’-10’ of duct. Blocking one duct is not recommended. Too much static pressure can build up and the unit will shut down.
Q: Can I use a smaller exhaust duct than recommended on the accessories section of the website?
A: Not recommended as it overloads the unit. For specific details please contact a dealer or MovinCool.
Q: Can I use extension cords on MovinCool?
A: We recommend extreme caution when using extension cords. The following guideline is recommended: It must be safety listed and 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord. The marked rating of the extension cord should be the same as the voltage requirement and the recommended fuse size on the specification sheet.

(Click the following link to view the specifications: http://www.movincool.com/downloads/overview_specs.pdf).
Q: Can we connect a remote thermostat to Office Pro, Classic and Classic Plus units?
A: These units are not designed to work with a remote thermostat, except Classic 40 units manufactured from May 2009 to present and Classic 60 units manufactured from April 2009 to present.
Q: Can we connect these units to a fire alarm control? Can we connect these units to warning devices or building control systems?
A: Yes, all the current models (except PC7) are equipped with one signal input connection from fire alarm and one signal output connection for connecting to warning devices or building control systems.
Q: Are side and front clearances important factors?
A: Yes, clearance is an important factor as well as filters being dirty. In both cases, the AC will not operate properly due to insufficient air flow.
Q: Can we extend the length of the warm air duct that comes with the PC7 unit?
A: No. Extending the air duct will overload the unit. You can keep the unit on a raised platform if you need to exhaust the warm air into the ceiling by using the duct that comes with the unit.
Q: How much side and front clearance is needed for the portable units to operate properly?
A: 18” of clearance is the minimum for both the evaporator and condenser.
24” of clearance is required for 5 ton models (Office Pro 60, Office Pro 63 & Classic 60).
Q: What maintenance is required for MovinCool?
A: The only regular maintenance required is cleaning or changing the filters on the units. For more details, please refer to the operations manual.
Q: Do we need to charge any refrigerant?
A: No, each unit is fully charged and ready to use. Unless there is a leak, refrigerant does not wear out nor does it deplete. Each MovinCool is hermetically sealed to prevent leakage.

Troubleshooting

Q: Why is the compressor not turning on?
A: Make sure the room temperature is above the set point.
Make sure the cool mode is activated.
Make sure the jumper on relay board (J8) is installed correctly and connector jumper assembly is installed correctly for units with the plug and play connector.
Q: Why is my unit freezing up?
A: The cause could be dirty filters, not enough clearance for the evaporator, negative pressure or low condenser inlet air temperature when a plenum is attached to the unit.
Q: Why is the unit not turning on/operate?
A: Make sure the unit is connected to the right voltage and recommended breaker. Check for power at the receptacle. Check for loose wire connections. Check if the fan mode switch on the relay board is at off position and the room temperature is below the set point. Or press the reset button on the LCDI plug.
For more specific information please refer to the operation manual.
Q: How to clear the diagnostic code on the controller (control board)?
A: Note: Before clearing the diagnostic code, be sure to find and correct the problem.

For the Office Pro units with the old controller (Units manufactured before April 2007 with a green LED):
  1. 1) Unplug the unit and wait for 5 seconds.
  2. 2) Push and hold the HRS and MIN buttons simultaneously.
  3. 3) Then plug the unit in while still holding the buttons.
For Classic Plus units with the old controller (Units manufactured before April 2007 with a green LED):
  1. 1) Unplug the unit and wait for 5 seconds.
  2. 2) Push and hold both fan speed buttons simultaneously.
  3. 3) Then plug the unit in while still holding the buttons.
For units with the new controller (for all Office Pro and Classic Plus units manufactured from April 2007 to present):
Press hold COOL ON/OFF and FAN HI/LO simultaneously for 5 seconds.

For units with the new controller:
- CL10 & CL18 (Units manufactured from January 2008 to present)
- CL40 (Units manufactured from May 2009 to present)
- CL60 (Units manufactured from April 2009 to present)
Hold down both SET TEMP buttons (up & down arrows) simultaneously for 3 seconds.
Q: Why is the pump not draining or pumping?
A: See if there are any diagnostic codes. Normally the display will show "AS" and that can happen due to a kink or blockage in the pipe, which will stop the flow of water. This may be solved by eliminating the kink/blockage and resetting the control board. The diagnostic code "AS" may also be triggered due to a low voltage draw by the unit.
Q: The fan runs but the display has blanked out, what does that mean?
A: Check for loose wire connections or a defective control board.
Q: Why the unit is displaying “TANK”?
A: This indicates the tank is missing from the unit. On the new control boards when the drain tank is full, “TANK FL” LED flashes on the display. As soon as you remove the tank from the unit, the display will switch to “TANK”. After emptying the tank, put it back into the unit and press ON/OFF button. “TANK” will go away.
If conditions persist after the above actions have been taken, turn the unit off, disconnect the power and contact your MovinCool reseller or a qualified technician.
